Brighton Aquarium, early 1900s

This postcard was published in the early twentieth century. It shows people outside the entrance of Brighton Aquarium on a windy day.

Social distancing?

Is this an early example of social distancing? Although some family groups and one couple can be seen, most people seem to be keeping their distance from one another.

The spelling of ‘Breesy’ is also odd. We can’t find any references to suggest this was ever a usual spelling of ‘breezy’. Was it a simple spelling mistake?
